Written by: Charlotte Gambling, Marketing Executive Since we were all sent into lockdown back in March, fundraising for our chosen charity of 2020, Mind has been a little different to normal.
Now we are all working from home, our charity events have become a lot harder to plan, mainly due to our most of our previous efforts revolving around food, and of course, we cannot get together to enjoy each other’s creations as we once could. With a new Charity Committee formed at beginning of October, we decided to initially set our sights on Halloween to get everyone involved and to raise some much needed funds!
We held two competitions to celebrate All Hallows Eve; best carved pumpkin and best fancy dress. Well done to our winners:
Isabella who dressed up as a spooky witch winning best fancy dress:
Arthur who won best pumpkin carving with his fantastic ghost and spider silhouettes:
Two of our fantastic IT team, Andy and Liam were encouraged by Mind’s ‘Switch off, Game on’ initiative to organise a 24 hour charity gaming live stream in November. Playing a multitude of games throughout the event, inviting gamers to join their teams across the course of the 24 hours, and raising a staggering £387 for Mind.
The Charity Committee has also set up a weekly lunchtime virtual yoga session, giving us a much needed stretch and time away from our desks! Not only is this good for our staff’s minds and bodies, contributing to charity little and often will result in quite a substantial amount raised by the end of the year.
As we look forward to Christmas, we have a ‘Festive Fundraising Week’ planned for 7th – 11th December, where we will be holding daily activities for both staff and their families to enjoy where they will have the opportunity to win some great prizes. In light of the current circumstances surrounding the country and Christmas, we’re very much looking forward to bringing everyone together and spreading a little festive cheer amongst both the team and with our clients. The activities will include a celebrity bake-off, so keep an eye on our LinkedIn page for some light-hearted entertainment!
